INTRODUCING THE EQUESTRIA GEMS! The Mane 6 as Crystal Gems! Self explanatory, really. All of them are Crystal Gems, as such, all have the star insignia somewhere on them instead of something else. An interesting design choice I decided would be that, similar to how all of the Mane 6 are (or were, not counting Alicorn Twilight) two of each, three of the Equestria Gems have defined lips like Garnet and Amethyst, three don't. Three have eyes like Sapphire and three don't. I have a mythology set up for them already, which comes together with all of them, but I have yet to define their homeworld as Earth, considering the backstory is slightly different and clashing slightly with Steven Universe's events, and as such, may not take place on the same world as Steven's, at least, not without significant alterations to the Equestria Gems canon. Despite this, I don't want to specify it as not Earth, as it could still be Earth, and I don't want to ruin the idea of crossovers. And I would love to see people use the Equestria Gems canon if they so desire, seriously! All I ask is that you try to stay with the ideas I've lined out, and feel free to ask questions about everything! You can absolutely use these designs, IF YOU CREDIT ME AND RESPECT MY WISHES! Since this is kind of my idea and design (this specific canon, I do not own the idea of the Mane 6 as Gems, obviously) I would like if you asked questions about this! In short: :iconyouareplz::iconallowedplz:
Maud Pie=Grey Quartz
Marble Pie=Grey Pearl
Limestone Pie=Hematite
As previously mentioned, Taaffeite was one of the highest ranking Gems in Pink Diamond's Court at one point, a long time ago. She had many servants, forced by tradition, but she chose three specifically to be, well, hers. Her elite, to the Homeworld, was what they were. But to Taaffeite, they were her family. Her little sisters. Well, perhaps not quite so little in Grey Quartz's case... Taaffeite likes to call Grey Quartz and Hematite her big siblings and Grey Pearl her little sis. But it wasn't always that way. All three were originally made to order servants.... two bodyguards, a Quartz type guard and a Ruby type guard, and a statuesque Pearl (the technical term for Pearls with no use other than to stand there and look pretty), and they behaved like it. Just the normal, standard Gems they were made to be. But Taaffeite found them boring.. well, boring and depressing. She felt like this wasn't how Gems should be. And she tried to show them how to be their own Gems, slowly. And they took to it in their own ways. To a lot of Gems, they'd seem like they were the same as they were made to be.. but they'd be wrong. Taaffeite understands that they're simply expressing themselves the way that they want to express them. They might be similar to their roots, but it was their choice to be so. That's what matters. She insisted that whatever they wanted to be was perfectly ok, as long as it was their choice, and not hers. She didn't want them trying to be something they didn't want to be just to please her.
Grey Quartz:
Grey Quartz was the first made, and the strongest, for obvious reasons. She's the leader of the three as Taaffeite left to join the Equestria Gems, the others choosing to remain on their crash site, wanting the peace and quiet. Grey Quartz gave Taaffeite a small communication diamond (she calls it her 'boulder') to keep in contact, because they still love their adoptive sister and former, well, owner, very much... but rumors are that Taaffeite lost hers (not that Grey Quartz knows). When Grey Quartz was first made, she behaved exactly as a Quartz should; aggressively protective and ready to fight, but completely under Taaffeite's command. She could consult her owner, but never direct her unless Taaffeite's life was in danger. She would be extremely direct, but in a more aggressive way than Grey Quartz is now, bluntly believing everyone to have ulterior motives and saying so explicitly, warning Taaffeite of the dangers of trusting anyone who looked at her the wrong way.
When Taaffeite first asked for her to be her own Gem, she took it as a direct order to be something else, not her choice, but an order. She insisted on trying to act like Taaffeite, since she needed to be a different Gem. Taaffeite tried again and again to explain to her what she meant, and slowly, Grey Quartz became quieter, more restrained, and at first, Taaffeite was worried that she had given up, but Grey Quartz started to show that she was simply deadpan, and in her own way, well, her. And that was good enough.
Sometimes at first, Grey Quartz asked if she was ok with her being so... quiet, but she eventually accepted her acceptance. Grey Quartz is still just as protective, but she knows that her little sister can take of herself, the first to accept being Taaffeite's sister, and taking that role extremely seriously. She has a sense of humor, but her tone remains flat, so sometimes it seems like she's a dour, humorless soldier, but she's just her. She's fascinated by rocks that exist on their new world, with semi-organic growth, not controlled, her favorite being sedimentary rocks, since they're all unique in some way. She really likes mudstones, for the fact that sometimes they contain organic elements, things that normally don't belong in stones.
Grey Quartz's weapon is Maud's helmet from when she rescued Pinkie, a helmet with a drill spike at top.
Grey Pearl:
Grey Pearl was the last made, and the littlest sister of the family... as a statuesque Pearl, originally, she was never meant to talk or do anything but accompany Taaffeite to meetings and compliment her with her silent beauty. She was designed to literally stand there and look pretty, the epitome of what Peridot described some Pearls as. Grey Pearl was essentially the same as Blue Diamond's Pearl, a silent and pretty statue, and that was the reason that broke Taaffeite, and why she decided that Homeworld could go screw themselves. A person, a living Gem, designed to simply be a statue.. what was the point of making them alive, if they were meant to act like that?.... it broke her heart. And Grey Pearl's silence broke it too. A Gem who was never made to talk, who couldn't talk because she was never built with the information or taught it, simply because that wasn't what she was supposed to be.
Taaffeite immediately decided that this was going to change, and she wanted to teach Grey Pearl to talk. She eventually did, along with giving her the same sort of talk she gave to Grey Quartz, but Grey Pearl was more receptive to the information, since she had already been taught to talk, something that already broke all of the rules that she originally had. Despite the fact that she had been taught to speak, she still preferred silence, and was very nervous to ask Taaffeite if it was ok if she didn't talk, terrified that Taaffeite would want her to talk so she could be unique, but Taaffeite was perfectly fine with it, of course Grey Pearl could talk however she wanted, even if it was not at all. Grey Pearl still keeps quiet most of the time, but still communicates, preferring to simply mumble and murmur things to tell others things without words. She may not be as.... aggressive, as her sisters, but she's also intensely caring and protective of Taaffeite, since she was her best friend. She's got no weapon, as a statuesque Pearl. She could have one, as Taaffeite explained, but Grey Pearl doesn't particularly want one.
Hematite:
Hematite was the second made, slightly small (compared to her siblings) fireball of a Ruby build Gem, bigger for the sake of protecting such an important Gem. Designed originally to be intensely protective, similar to Grey Quartz, she was an instigator, but also holding an inflated amount of respect and reverence for Taaffeite and her superiors, often enforcing said reverence in other Gems, essentially a bodyguard to enforce the Homeworld order, making sure other Gems know their place in the presence of such an important Gem as Taaffeite. She would be a hovering presence over all conversations with Taaffeite, just waiting for somepony to act in a disrespectful way or somehow break a rule. Taaffeite was sad to see even the other aristocrats, who she didn't particularly like, terrified to talk to to her the wrong way, and asked Hematite to perhaps be less aggressive, though she didn't have to stop being her, she just asked what Hematite really thought about the aristocrats. Which, turned out to translate to 'I hate their dumb faces'.
Which was a start, though her anger towards the aristocrats was still there, at least she was honest about it, and stopped forcing them to agree with Taaffeite, instead protecting her. She found herself expressing herself more openly as aggressive and outspoken, and eventually even occasionally disrespecting Taaffeite.... who couldn't have been happier. Although sometimes she clashes with her sister, she still loves her. And  now, her protection is genuine, not ordered. She is the only one of the three that occasionally calls Taaffeite 'High Countess', either out of habit or when she was angry, similar to calling out a full name.
Hematite's weapon is a hammer, colored with all of her darker colors, obviously. Hematite smash~
