HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
EVIL LAUGHTER
*cough* *hack* *cough* I'm sorry, I got a little carried away there. A little. Maybe. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-Ok, I swear I'm done.  This is too sad to keep up the evil laughing. But seriously, I am the devil.
...Yeah, I'm not even sure how to begin this, it's so depressing.
Well, I guess I could start with their names; Mr. and Mrs. Miller, Isaac and Miriam.
To be honest, I hadn't gotten too far on them in terms of headcanons, mostly because I've been avoiding thinking about them because DAMN this is sad, and I have enough sad in my headcanon. But I drew them anyway. I regret nothing and everything.
What I've got on them is; extremely religious Home Ec teachers, Ezekiel's an only child, and they're rather strict.
Isaac, despite being a bit of a sexist traditionalist, isn't that physically capable himself, although he was more capable before the incident, after which, he kind of let himself go, because he had more important things to do than get in shape again. Priorities are important in situations such as this.
Miriam is rather quiet and mousey, she's always been that way, but she's even more quiet so now after what happened to Ezekiel. Despite this, she actually has gotten more of a backbone after all the things she's been doing to change something, although the lack of change has chipped away at her resolve. She's run herself ragged desperately trying to get someone, anyone, to do anything. As I've brought up before, the TD universe is legally fucked up, and it's equally fragile in terms of stability. The world actively conspires against any attempts to shut the show down, as it's the center of the universe, and removing Fresh TV from their universe would end any reason for the universe to exist... I do honestly enjoy writing about this fact, that the TD universe doesn't make more sense inside their world, because I enjoy tormenting my characters. So Miriam's efforts are all in vain, at least in terms of getting the show shut down.
They're not huge fans of the outside world, which has pretty much fucked Ezekiel's life up pretty majorly, considering he's not aware that subways actually exist, he's not allowed to watch movies, and he's completely socially inept to the point that he pretty much states whatever is on his mind, no matter how inane, stupid or dangerously sexist it is. So really, they try. They just wanted what's best for him, but human interaction was something they didn't really think he was ready for. They ran a small set up similar to Connolly Ranch. That's how Ezekiel managed to slip away with the kids and visit an actual school. He was mostly however, scared of the kids, so he never interacted with them. The farm wasn't huge or often used, because they lived so far from any actual towns, they didn't get much business and it was a 'like once or twice every couple of years' thing. Ezekiel really wasn't allowed to interact with them, and he didn't want to anyway, because they were loud and scary. When you're not used to human interaction, loud schoolchildren on a field trip is pretty terrifying. Which, again, probably didn't help the whole 'socially inept doofus' thing...At all.
...And that leads us to the sad part. Well, sadder, because even before TD, his life was kind of sad in a passive 'poor baby' way. According to Ezekiel's bio, the only reason Ezekiel's parents signed him up for Total Drama Island is because their family doctor was concerned about his Vitamin-D Deficiency, so they were instructed to get him out of the house and into fresh air... Which is something they'll regret for the rest of their lives. They actually weren't expecting Ezekiel to get on the show, it was just something Zeke saw on TV advertised and they figured that it couldn't hurt to sign it up, because at least he was interested in getting out of the house and they wanted to encourage that behavior. So imagine their surprise when they got the letter in the mail informing them that he had been selected for the show. Fresh TV didn't exactly make it clear why they had selected Ezekiel, but the true reason was that Chris thought it would be absolutely hilarious to have a kid like Zeke, with no social skills or human interaction, be on the show with the other people they had selected. Ezekiel, in fact, was the last contestant selected, after everyone else had been chosen.
While Ezekiel was pretty stoked about the whole thing, they were extremely worried that he'd get into trouble, what with aforementioned complete social ineptitude. Which quickly came true when Isaac's stellar advice on life ended up getting him voted off. Both of them felt extremely guilty over the whole thing, especially when Ezekiel didn't come back home, which actually explains Ezekiel's face on the milk carton in 'Basic Straining'; they weren't aware of the Playa, because the show was intentionally obscuring that info. So.. yeah. Luckily, they did get get info back that he was safe, a letter telling them to knock the whole 'missing person' thing off, because they didn't need the negative press (Irony is a bitch). So that happened. They welcomed Zeke back with open arms, and they were glad he wasn't hurt.
The Celebrity Manhunt special was nerve-wracking, and they were extremely worried about Ezekiel competing on TDWT. They knew he really wanted to, but they knew how dangerous the show was, and they were terrified he was going to get hurt.... I...yeah. You can imagine the heart attacks they had when he managed to get himself voted off and thrown out of the plane. To be clear, the show in their world didn't actually show Ezekiel clinging onto the plane in the ending, so in universe, everyone was unaware of what had happened to him. They knew from the info (handily given to them so they didn't send out another missing person thing) that the voted off contestants were recollected and shipped back to the studio for the Aftermath special, so they actually thought he was there until the Aftermath aired.... and they found out that no one knew where Ezekiel was. And then, the letters came pouring in, Total Drama fans all over were searching the show and finding Ezekiel hiding on the plane in many scenes, and they also quickly realized that he was not looking too good. Every new scene the fans found, Ezekiel looked worse. His eyes were bloodshot, his hair was falling out, his skin was slowly turning a pale green, and he was very clearly losing weight fast. They didn't know what to do, they didn't have a steady income and they didn't have any way of getting him off the show because of that. They couldn't afford plane tickets, and even if they could, they didn't know where the plane was headed next. And as I mentioned, the universe itself actively conspires against any action that would discontinue the show. Why do you think that, no matter the accidents, the Aftermath special still raised enough money to continue the flight? The universe needs TD to continue. So no matter how they rallied, no matter how much they tried to get someone to listen to them, they were helpless. I'm not going to get into much of this part because of how mind-numbingly depressing it is, and the fact that I don't trust myself to be able to convey just how much pain and suffering happened with this, so we're going to skip to the part around when Guardian Angels happens.
At this point, they've pretty much given up all hope; nothing they do changes anything, and they can't do anything to help him no matter what happens. Even when World Tour ended and Ezekiel was found, it was only a short while before Chris literally kidnapped him for Revenge Of The Island and he escaped again. Both of them have no real faith in them ever getting their son back. They used to believe in God, but, well, it's not easy to keep faith in a loving creator when this happens. They even wonder if this was what God wanted, but they just don't know anymore. Their hair is prematurely greying (and in Isaac's case, falling out) due to the immense stress and just the fact that they haven't taken care of themselves very well after this. It's a miracle their hair isn't completely grey (a miracle/I just can't draw aging well, sue me). They sometimes just lock themselves in their room and cry, and after the All Stars finale, they are convinced he's dead... They don't know what to do after everything that's happened to them, and they spend hours just thinking of where they went wrong, praying that Ezekiel finds peace in Heaven.. and pray he isn't in Hell...  As I said, mind-numbingly depressing. So when there's a call on the phone for them, telling them that they've found Ezekiel on the F.U.N Zone, alive and... not well, but alive being the point here.
And, as terrible as it sounds, they were secretly hoping he wasn't. Not because they wanted him dead; they were just praying for him to have peace. They didn't want him to hurt anymore. The fact that he was alive was... understandably bittersweet. They were actually, for the first time in the three years of pain, allowed to see their son... and it hurt. He was, well, Ezekiel. He was inside the padded cell that they had painstakingly covered in acid resistant material, and they had him drugged out of his mind just to keep him from launching himself at the wall and breaking something.... And they cried.
*breaks down into sobbing and curls up into a little ball on the floor* I'M SO SORRY FOR DOING THIS TO EVERYONE *whimpers*
